The Morgan is one of the earliest horse breeds developed in the United States.
Tracing back to the stallion Figure, later named Justin Morgan after his best-known owner, the breed excels in many disciplines, and is known for its versatility.
The Morgan horse is compact and refined in build, with strong limbs, an expressive face, large eyes, well-defined withers, laid back shoulders and a well arched neck and a clean cut head.
There is officially one Breed Standard for Morgan type regardless of the discipline or bloodline of the individual horse.

YOUTH REPORT
The British Morgan Horse Society Youth Section was established in 1979.
The age limit is set at 21 years and thereafter the members join the main body of the society.
Youth members are encouraged to participate and run their own part of the society, competing at shows, producing a news letter, attending summer Youth Clinic and other organised events throughout the year.
It is deemed a very important part of the Society as the youth members of today are the life blood and future success of the British Morgan Horse Society and this wonderful breed of horse.
Children from as young as three years old have been known to compete in lead line classes and usually as skills and confidence grows continue to enjoy the benefits of their membership.
Wherever possible each member is given the opportunity to ride a Morgan horse either at clinics, camps shows or social get togethers. It is due to the generosity of our senior members who willingly give their time, share their knowledge and most importantly provide their beloved horses for the students to ride that the joys and pleasures of spending time with a Morgan horse can be experienced.
Anyone wishing to introduce their child to this magnificent breed can be assured of a warm welcome at any of the organised events, details of which can be found on the web site.
Why not come and have a taster of something new, different and exciting. You will never regret it.
Mel Hough – British Morgan Horse Society Youth Officer.
